Jardín Botánico de Cartagena “Guillermo Piñeres”
Just 30 minutes from downtown Cartagena lies a captivating ecological gem, the Jardín Botánico de Cartagena “Guillermo Piñeres.” This sanctuary showcases 300+ plant species from Colombia’s tropical dry forest and global tropical regions. Its virgin native forest is a vital resource for tropical dry forest restoration.
The Guillermo Piñeres Botanical Garden is renowned as the most important plant collection of the Colombian Caribbean Region with conservation projects reaching from the Urabá Subregion to La Guajira Desert. For almost 50 years the Garden has been the leading organization executing conservation and research efforts for the seasonally dry tropical forest in the Colombian Caribbean Region, the country’s most battered ecosystem by human intervention.
